About

Designed by architect, James Craig in the late 18th Century and a refreshing change from the overcrowded Old Town. He worked on a grid-iron pattern with 3 streets running from east to west, Princes Street, George Street and Queen's Street and elegant squares. Charlotte Square and St Andrew's Square at either end. It was extended in stages and today is the largest complete example of town planning from the Georgian period anywhere in the world.
